Yayo Eduardo Gomez brings tremendous culinary skills and experience to the One Fire table. Yayo’s family is considered some of the founding builders of Cancun. In the early 1970’s Yayo moved to the area to work in his uncle’s restaurants. Gaining experience as a youngster, Yayo found early that cooking great cuisine was his passion. After high school, he continued in the culinary field earning a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Florida International University. After graduation, he moved to Italy where he enrolled in culinary school, before taking his first job as a chef in Italy.

He returned to Florida in the ’80’s working at the Fountain Blue Hilton in Miami before venturing out on his own. He made the leap to opening his own restaurant in Puerto Morelos, Cafe Del Puerto, for 5 years. It was destroyed along with much of Puerto Morelos in Hurricane Wilma. He next took a job at the Anderson Group in Cancun working for Senor Frogs.

He joined Casa Om in 2012 where he has developed a world class reputation as not only a great chef but also an integral part of the Casa Om experience.

He is a skilled chef, knowledgeable guide and inspiring story teller. He is thrilled to lead the cooking team for One Fire.
